Welcome to Just Among Kids!

I am based in Cape Town, Southern Suburbs and I am here to help children who are struggling in a variety of areas to work through the difficulties they may be facing in a safe and non-threatening environment.

Play therapy allows children to work through and process their struggles at their own pace and so use PLAY to communicate at their own level. Where adults in counselling would use talk therapy to work through their difficulties, play therapy allows children to work through their struggles through play.

At Just Among Kids I work with children aged 3-16 with a variety of challenges including:

• Challenges at school (e.g. bullying, separation issues etc.)

• Depression/Anxiety

• Parental conflict (Divorce/Separation)

• Trauma/Grief/Loss

• Personal/Family illness

• Impulse control & ADD/ADHD

• Social struggles/withdrawal

• Anger management

• Relationship & friendship struggles

Although the child is the primary client in play therapy, I use a collaborative approach and parents/caregivers are an integral part of this process. I work with parents/caregivers through an initial meeting to gain an in-depth understanding of the child's struggles, continuous informal feedback and a formal feedback meeting with the parents/caregivers once the play therapy sessions are complete. I aim to assist and guide parents on their journey of parenting and provide skills, techniques and guidance that they can also implement at home to assist their child.
